NTN is the National Tax Number required for taxpayer registration in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

FBR has made tax registration convenient, so you can do it from the comfort of your home by creating an online account on FBR’s IRIS portal.

This blog outlines the step-by-step process of registration with FBR using your CNIC.

Types of Available Online NTN

The following business entities are eligible to register with the FBR.

1) Personal NTN

Personal NTN is issued based on your CNIC through the FBR’s online verification system. It is for salaried or business individuals.

2)Association of Individuals (AOP)/Partnership

This type of NTN is for a firm managed as an association of persons and issued on the certificate of association of partners or partnership deed.

3) Company NTN

Company NTN is issued on the company’s registration certificate and verified through the FBR’s online verification system.

NTN Number Is the Same As CNIC Number

In 2015 through an income tax ordinance SRO 1076, FBR allowed individuals to use their CNIC for NTN registration since CNIC Number will become NTN Number.
